Workshop - Techniques for Mending and Altering Clothes - 22nd May 2021
We are all looking for ways to reduce our impact on the environment and to do our bit, however small. In this two hour workshop I will cover several techniques for altering and mending that will help you to give your clothes a new lease of life and to keep them going for a bit longer!
Where a darned elbow might once have been cause for shame, now people are using patching and darning as a way to accessorize garments and to show how much they care!
We will look at darning and patching in this workshop, as well as sewing buttons back on, different hemming techniques, and reshaping an old garment to make it more suitable for today.
The course will take place at Finsthwaite Village Hall on Saturday 22nd May between 9:30am and 12:30pm.
I will provide needles, thread, buttons, pins and fabric scraps. You will need to bring a darning mushroom (don't worry if you don't have one as I can provide and alternative), some scissors that will snip thread and a selection of clothes that you would like to bring back to life!
Participants will be asked to wear a face covering. Alcohol hand gel will be freely available and all surfaces will be thoroughly cleaned before the workshop begins.
There are 8 places available on this course. If there is more demand then I will schedule more of these workshops. If they are sold out then please do let me know that you are interested so that I can let you know about more events.
